Heart Dhamma Retreat

Retreat Information:

This 3-days retreat starts on Sunday evening, Dec 14 — please arrive before 6pm at the monastery, so you could rest well before the retreat starts the next morning.

Teaching will begin in the morning of Monday, 15th Dec at 8:00 am. The retreat will conclude by Wednesday, 17th Dec at 5:00 pm.

The daily schedule at the monastery is as follows:

04:00              — Morning Bell
04:30 – 05:30 — Sitting & Walking Meditation
05:30              — Exercise/Stretching
06:20              — Breakfast – Eating Meditation
07:00 – 08:00 — Personal Time
08:00 – 09:00 — Morning Dhamma Sharing
09:00 – 10:30 — Sitting/Walking Meditation
11:00 – 12:00 — Lunch – Eating Meditation
12:00 – 13:30 — Personal Time
13:30 – 16:40 — Sitting & Walking Meditation
16:40 – 17:00 — Juice Break
17:00 – 18:00 — Evening Dhamma Sharing / Q&A
18:00 – 19:00 — Personal Time
19:00 – 21:00 — Sitting & Walking Meditation
21:30              — Lights Out

Participants will be required to observe the 8 uposatha precepts during their stay at the monastery, which are to:      

⁃   refrain from killing living beings
      ⁃   refrain from stealing
      ⁃   refrain from sexual activity
      ⁃   refrain from speaking what is not true
      ⁃   refrain from taking intoxicants
      ⁃   refrain from eating after noon. *
      ⁃   refrain from entertainment & beautification
      ⁃   refrain from sleeping on luxurious and big beds

*if you have a need for food in the evening due to a medical reason, please inform us in the application form.

Further, for the duration of the retreat, participants are asked to maintain silence and refrain from speaking with other practitioners. This is to support introspection and self-discovery.


The teachings in this Heart Dhamma Retreat will be offered by the Venerable monks: Bodhidharo, Vipassī, Adhimokkha, Sumedha and Āloka.

Saṅghārāma monastery is a charitable organisation and is sustained by voluntary offerings/donations. The Dhamma, as well as accommodation and food in this retreat are offered freely, as a gift.

Please note that spaces on this retreat are limited and only applicants who have submitted the application form and received confirmation via email or phone, will be allowed to attend.
